First off, I want to share a pic of me with my mommy when I was a baby!

My mom and I have always had lots of ups and downs but I love her dearly!

Being a Mom is a HARD job but it is also very rewarding

Without Mr. Perfect, I wouldn’t have had the wonderful opportunity to become a Mom – so, I’m very thankful to him!

The pic above is from about 10 years ago – we were even more Spunky then!

I try my best to show my kids how to have fun and be themselves.

I always make sure that I tell them that I love them!

I have really been blessed with super awesome kids!

These are the homemade gifts I received from my kiddos:

Pookie made me a picture frame (at boy scouts), two tissue flowers, and gave me a sunflower plant.

Boomer made me a story book, a coupon book and sent me a card.

Sassy made me a pretty picture with her hand and feet prints.

Mr. perfect gave me a sweet card and the kids gave me one, too!

I loved all my “made with love” presents and didn’t expect anything else but they gave me all this, too!

I got a new luxurious pillow and some sweet picture frames.

They also gave me some hot pink duck tape and a nifty pocket knife (for crafting).

I am so appreciative that God have given me such an awesome responsibility!

It’s been a really great weekend and I’m so happy!

Every year, I go to the local home improvement store and buy flowers to plant but because we will be moving soon, I am doing something different this year.

I made edible plants for Boomer’s class!

I bought little clay pots (in a 3 pack) from Dollar Tree, washed them, and baked chocolate cupcakes in them! I had to use a mini cupcake liner in the bottom because the pots had drainage holes in them.

I frosted them with chocolate icing and dipped the top in crushed oreos/graham cracker crumbs (to look like dirt), then I stuck a sprig of parsley in the top. I was going to use mint leaves instead but couldn’t find it at the store. I also provided plastic spoons to eat them with (wrapped in green cord).

Tada! It looks like a cute little plant but it’s totally edible!!

For an extra piece of Earth Day awesomeness, I made a little package to go with each cupcake.

I filled a little baggie with soil, attached a pack of flower seeds and a homemade tag.

The tag says “Grub on the Earth then Grow Something New – Happy Earth Day 2013″

I told the teacher to explain to the kids that they can eat the cupcake and then plant the seeds to grow flowers.

There’s even a bonus – they can use the spoon to eat the cupcake, THEN use it as a mini-shovel to help plant their seeds!

I just love cute and easy crafty treats – don’t you?

To reduce cost (and because I knew that the plant idea would be too messy), I made some simple dirt cupcakes for Sassy and her class.

They were made just the same as the plant ones (chocolate cake/icing/crumbs) BUT I used a mini cupcake liner instead of a pot and didn’t put parsley in the top. I made a cute little tag (using Print Shop and mailing labels) and folded the tag around a plastic pick.

See, just as cute as the other ones and totally perfect for little kindergarten hands!

Don’t get mad because you think I’m leaving Pookie out! I didn’t make Earth Day treats for his class because they are still doing FCAT testing and I sent treats for that instead! Check those out here!

They have prepared for this important test all year long and I thought they needed some encouragement!

I did some research online and picked out the best treats with matching sayings and created some little notes to match.

I printed the sayings on card stock and made one for each student in the class for each test day.

I am including free PDF download links below. Each treat has a sheet full of cards to print if you are doing this for a whole class OR if you would just like to do this for your child (great as lunch notes, too), I am including one sheet with all the different cards.

My favorite thing to do with the Spunky Kids in the spring is to make bird feeders and this one is the easiest we’ve ever done!

All you need is some oranges (or other citrus) and bird seed!

Start off by cutting off the tops of the fruit.

Now scoop everything out of them to make them hollow.

Sassy loves oranges which is probably why she is the only one in the house NOT sick right now!

It wasn’t hard to convince her to “dispose” of the fruit I had scooped out!

Use a hole punch or knife to make 4 holes in each orange (in an X-ey shape), then tie on a hanger using pipe cleaners or string of some sort (use whatever you have on hand).

Fill with bird seed!

Now go hang them somewhere awesome where the birds can have some yummy nummies!

Super easy and environmentally friendly!

Here’s a cute way to celebrate by making some SUPER EASY Bunny Pops!

I saw this idea on Pinterest and then adapted it to what I already had in my Spunky stash.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Chocolate (white and/or brown)

Sucker, Cookie, or Popsicle Sticks (I used sucker ones)

Rice Krispie Treats (I used prepackaged cuz it’s easier)

Red Food Coloring

Let’s Get Started!

First off, get some spring tunes going: my all time favorite bunny song is Betty Bunny’s Birthday Day – Listen to it here!

Take your rice krispie treats and stab them with a stick! I stuck mine in good and deep so the stick wouldn’t fall out when I was dipping them in the chocolate.

Set them aside and melt your chocolate.

I melt my chocolate in a mason jar in a pot of water on the stove so that I can store what doesn’t get used.

*Handy Tip* – Add 1 tbsp. of shortening to the chocolate as its melting so the chocolate will be thin enough to dip things in!

Dip the treats in the chocolate and set the on a rack to drip and harden.

Refrigerate them until they are nice and solid.

While you’re waiting for the treats to solidify, work on making some pink chocolate for the ears and mouths.

Pour some of your white chocolate into a small bowl and mix in some red food coloring until it turns a nice pink color.

When the treats are solid, they should look like this:

Time for ears and faces!

I started with the ears because I wanted to make sure I had room for everything.

I used a medicine syringe to make pink ears, noses, and mouths. Then I used alternating colors of the melted chocolate to make the eyes.

Place them back in the fridge until the faces are set and then you’re ready to present them!

I used a little cup and some easter grass to display these cute treats!

I saw this particular idea floating around the internet and knew I had to try it!

Here is a way to dye the eggs so that the white is beautifully colored and completely safe to eat!

These would look great on display for Easter brunch!

First Step:

Even though we have 9 chickens and tons of fresh eggs, I have yet to be able to peel a fresh egg so I used store bought for this project!

Boil your eggs!

Everyone has their own way of hard boiling eggs. I put mine in a pot of water, when the water comes to a rolling boil, I turn on a 10 minute timer. Try it this way or use your own method – whatever works!

I cool my eggs by placing them in an ice bath. As I said, use the method that works best for you!

Once the eggs are cooled, peel them!

My peel method: crack the bottom, crack the top, and roll it on the counter top – the shell comes right off!

After the eggs are peeled, put them aside to prepare your dye bath. You could also do this step while you are waiting for the eggs to cool.

I used clear cups (because that’s so much funner) and filled them with 1/2 cup of plain tap water. I put them in a 13×9 baking pan for ease of carrying.

My lovely assistant (Pookie) put 20 drops of regular liquid food coloring in each cup and stirred it all up with a plastic spoon.

Place one egg in each cup and put them all in the refrigerator for 2 hours.

When time is up, use tongs to take them out and lay them on a paper towel to soak up the extra dye. I didn’t take a picture of this step.

At this point, you can put them back in the fridge until you’re ready to serve them OR slice them in half and display the awesomeness.

Now, I know some of you may scoff at the fact that there is a grey ring around my yolks BUT I don’t mind this and they taste just the same! So, get off my back

This dish is a super cute thing to do with the kids and very eye catching when displayed with other foods!

I originally planned to make egg salad with these eggs the next day and add a pic of what it looked like but the ALL of the eggs were eaten before I had the chance Maybe we’ll just have to make these again before Easter!
